Group Consultations Clinical Consultation Groups for Transforming Touch Therapists, Students, and Other Interested Professionals

About Group Consultations

For most of us, we often find ourselves as solo practitioners or working in a group where we are the only one working with Transforming Touch® or trauma in our practices. Group consultation is a connection with other professionals doing the same type of work. This connection is key to processing our interactions with our clients and what our clients may be triggering inside of us.

“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”
— CG Jung

Our clinical consultation groups provide many benefits, including:

  • Helping inform us about important therapeutic tools and techniques
  • Providing a basis for wonderful and fulfilling collegial relationships
  • Preventing burnout
  • Helping us recognize our best strengths, and how to develop them
  • Giving us highly cost-effective, regular access to others in the field
  • A safe place to talk about the complexities of a case, the kind of practice you want to build, or to explore and develop what you bring to your work
  • A collaborative discussion rather than the straight-up offering and receiving of advice.

The main difference between supervision and clinical consultation has to do with your relationship. Your supervisor is/was ultimately responsible for the overall quality of care you provided to all of your clients. Consultants, on the other hand, are offering their expertise in a particular area and are excellent resources for tricky cases and situations.

I’m suggesting that everyone benefits from consultations. It’s key that you ensure you’ve always got someone to talk to when new or difficult situations arise. Group Consults are a way to get the support your practice needs.
