Experiential Developmental Group
Seattle, Washington

November 16-17 and November 18-19, 2018

From a participant:  "You open and provide an experiential space wherein learning and growth can happen.  It is a difference between the “top down” teacher approach, and the “we are all on the same plane and open to the possibility of experience” facilitator approach.  You said yourself that are in clinician mode as you are overseeing each practice session, and therefore it is challenging to return to left brain thinking to answer questions…a perfect demonstration of the fact that you are using your clinical skills to support us in our learning…we each change in relation to the experience and what we are ready to take in at that moment.  In any case, we are all grateful, I am grateful, for the way in you do that." ...Samantha
"Steve’s  experiential group has provided me with an incredible opportunity to understand and work with developmental trauma in an intimate and supportive environment.  My skill as a therapist has grown immeasurably  from these weekend groups.  I have newly found confidence in my ability to encourage and support change in my clients.  I cannot recommend these groups highly enough!"...Terry
Experiential Developmental Group

The Experiential Developmental Group (EDG) is an interactive experience-based group process where didactic learning and hands on experience come together.  This group is for somatic practitioners who work with shock and/or developmental trauma and would like to expand their touch skills and knowledge. Preference is given to those who have completed Somatic Resilience and Regulation, Transforming the Experience-Based Brain, or Touch Skills Training. Others are approved on individual basis by Terrell.

EDG is based on The Fishbowl learning experience.  This process allows participants to observe and learn about touch techniques and to experience their effectiveness.  In these groups, Terrell presents a topic which is then discussed by the entire group. Then, each participant has the  experience of being client and clinician.  Before engaging as the clinician, each participant will have an opportunity to present a clinical case to the group.  During the work, direct supervision is offered by Terrell in order to help the clinicians expand their skills .  The observers will be encouraged at the end of the practice session to discuss their observations and to share their own feelings that may have been triggered.  Increasing participant capacity through regulation is the primary goal of EDG. “You can only take people (clients) as far as you yourself have gone.” Richard Rohr.

Terrell chooses a different topic for each EDG to be the focus of the experience.  Topics are based on primative reflexes and integration, attachment theory/attachment styles or specific causes of developmental trauma such as medical trauma, early adversity, or adoption.
